THE AWARD-WINNING CONCEPT
Surdyk’s Flights opened in July of 2010 as an of the family-owned and operated Surdyk’s Liquor & Cheese Shop in Northeast Minneapolis, and has been and has been a beloved fixture in the neighborhood since 1934.
Throughout four generations, the Surdyk family has been offering the region’s largest selection of wine and spirits, along with cheeses and artisanal fare from around the world, and management at Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport sought them out to fill a void in the airport food and beverage offerings.
The Surdyk family worked with Minneapolis-based design firm Shea, Inc. to develop an offshoot of their popular brand, and created Surdyk’s Flights, an upscale casual bar/restaurant and retail market, providing old-school service and attention to detail harkening back to the time when traveling was as much about getting there as the destination – as well as the history of the Surdyk’s brand, including a faithful replica of the original liquor store sign.
Since opening Surdyk’s Flights has become a nationally-recognized, beloved, and award-winning option for travelers, topping the list of “Ten dining experiences that make flying better” on airfarewatchdog.com and winning 1st place in the category of Best New Food and Beverage Concept from the Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA).
